Coach (40 hours/week)
YMCA Humber Peaks Lane project, Grimsby
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of local people?
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and motivated person to work alongside our residents at our Peaks Lane supported housing hostel in Grimsby. As a local YMCA we seek to support our residents into suitable volunteering, training and employment opportunities whilst providing day-to-day life support within our accommodation projects. We are looking for flexible candidates with good IT skills to join our accommodation support team to work a variety of shifts including night shifts based on a communicated 5-week rolling rota, outlined as follows:
Week 1: 06:45-15:00 Tue-Fri (early shifts)
Week 2: 13:45-23:00 Mon-Fri (late shifts)
Week 3: 06:45-16:00 Mon-Fri (early shifts)
Week 4: 14:45-23:00 Mon-Fri (late shifts)
Week 5: 22:45-07:00 Mon-Fri (night shifts)
You will work alongside residents offering support based on life coaching and asset-based principals, using skills such as active listening, positive questioning whilst enabling residents to meet their aspirations such as being healthy, managing finances and preparation for living more independently. An understanding of asset-based approaches to support would be advantageous.
A methodical, well organised and positive approach to your workload is essential. Knowledge of the homelessness sector, social housing, the welfare benefit system and the ability to keep comprehensive records is very desirable. People with a positive attitude towards young people and a non-judgmental approach are highly valued at YMCA Humber. Salary: £8.87/hour (£9.36/hour night rate) at 40hrs/wk.

Relief Support Worker
Working hours: We have a variety of shifts available at both of our largest accommodation sites including days, evening and night shifts. We promote flexible working arrangements providing the requirements of the Association are being met. Please enquire for specific shift times.
We are looking for flexible individuals with good communication skills to join our list of relief support worker staff to work mornings, evenings and through the night. You will engage with our residents to provide informal support, offering practical advice on issues like health, personal leadership & employability. We are looking for candidates who can work flexibly, with a positive approach to work and the ability to motivate residents to make positive changes in their lives. In return we provide a diverse work environment and opportunities to progress.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this post and successful applicants will be contacted directly with regards to attending an interview.

Casual Media Support Volunteers
YMCA Humber is a charitable organisation that is keen to support and develop the talents of young people through its volunteering programme.
The Association would therefore like to offer a casual volunteering opportunity to young people with aspirations of working in the media industry, either in journalism, photography or filming.
So, if you’re a budding media professional and would like the opportunity to develop a portfolio of work through volunteering in a charitable organisation with a track record of supporting volunteers don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of their learning in the area they would like to volunteer, have access to transport in and around the Grimsby area, and if interested in volunteering in photography or film, ideally have their own equipment.
A volunteer will also be required to undergo full Disclosure and Barring Service checks before commencing any media work with the Association.
