Funded Cooking Workshop

We are thrilled to have received funding from Sector Support to deliver a 6-week cooking workshop to families and our residents.

The workshops began on 7th February and it has been fantastic to see so many people complete this, learning how to make a variety of different dishes such as: curry, lasagne, scotch eggs, pizza, quiche, soup, bread, sausage rolls, and cakes.

One family said, "we have really enjoyed all the meals we have made, but learning how to make bread and curry from scratch was our favourite. It has been nice to cook together as a family and we have continued making these at home."

One of our residents said, "I have really enjoyed these workshops, I usually stick food in the oven and think that counts as cooking, but now I have learnt how to make so many meals from scratch I know I am now actually cooking."

Mary Vickers, Community Food Co-ordinator in North East Lincolnshire added, "I come across a number of people who say that they would eat less convenience food or takeaways if only they knew how to prepare or cook their own meals. As a result, I am really pleased to be able to distribute this funding from the Household Support Fund to help a variety of groups put on cookery workshops. There’s certainly some exciting cookery going on across our community at the moment, which is great.”
