Local Charities Tee Off For Golf Day

August 5, 2015

Could you sink a putt for charity? If you are fantastic on the fairways and great on the greens then two local charities are looking for you to take part in their latest golf day.

YMCA Humber and Get Hooked on Positive Activities (GHoPA), both based in North East Lincolnshire, are holding their Annual Charity Golf Day on Friday 11th September 2015 at Grimsby Golf Club with Tee off times between 12 noon to 2pm.

This will be the third time the two charities have teamed up to host a charity golf event and all proceeds from the event will be used to support their work with vulnerable young people.

Organisers are looking forward to hosting another successful day on one of the region’s premier courses. John Manton YMCA Stakeholder Relations Manager said:

“We think that we can build on the popularity of the day over the last two years and make it bigger and better than ever before.

“The valuable funds raised will go to help those that have had a difficult start in life and support them on their journey to becoming productive citizens and valued community members.

“If you are a keen golfer and would like to help charities that support some of the area’s most vulnerable young people then come and enjoy 18 holes at the fabulous course in Grimsby.”

Golfers from all over the region are welcome to take part and the cost is £120 for a team of four. Individuals or pairs who may wish to take part are also welcome, as the organisers will make up teams of four. Entry is £30 each.

John continued: “The entry price represents great value for money and will include tea / coffee and a bacon butty on arrival as well as Great Grimsby Fish and Chips after the round.

“During the day, entrants will be able to take part in the raffle and win one of the traditional spot prizes (nearest the pin etc.) which will be on offer during the round.” Organisers are also hoping to have one or two special auction packages.

GHoPA, Managing Director Mark Fenty adds, “Grimsby Golf Club is without doubt one of the finest golf courses anywhere in the region. Both our great organisations change the lives of people in our community in very difficult times.  With the help and support of local companies and individuals we will continue to help those who most need it”.

Even if you are not a golfer but would still like to support the event, you can do so through a number of sponsorship packages, which are available.

Alternatively, the organisations would be most grateful to any company etc who may wish to donate a raffle prize or an auction prize.

Sponsorship packages include:

Sponsor a hole – £25

Vehicles promoted outside the Clubhouse – £50 per vehicle
