Affordable Activities for Young People this Half Term

February 10, 2016

A WEEK’S worth of affordable activities for young people will be taking place across North East Lincolnshire this half term, thanks to a new youth service partnership.

From boxing to cheerleading, archery to boxing and swimming to roller disco, the area’s 8-19-year-olds can enjoy a range of activities at various locations at just £1 per session.

Youth Partnership – North East Lincolnshire (YP-NEL) is a group of local organisations that has secured a North East Lincolnshire Council contract to provide youth services across the borough.

The partnership includes YMCA Humber, Get Hooked on Positive Activities (GHoPA), Franklin College, Lincs Inspire, Oasis Academy Immingham, Oasis Academy Wintringham, Centre 4 and Shalom Youth Centre.

As part of a consultation process, the group are offering a week of activities, which promises plenty of variety to the young people of North East Lincolnshire.

Penny Thompson is YMCA’s Senior Community Organiser and has been involved in the partnership’s consultations with young people, which have been taking place over recent month. These sessions have fed directly into the activities that YP-NEL will be providing.

She said: “The partnership has been reaching out to young people in recent months through a series of community consultations at various locations.

“We have asked young people what activities they would like to see in their local area and they have provided us with some great ideas.

“From here, the partnership works together to try and provide those activities at prices everyone can afford.”
