THERE was a fabulous foam party in the May sunshine for young people from our Immingham youth group, who were raising funds for Grimsby’s St. Andrew’s Children’s Hospice through their Bubble Rush event in East Park, Hull.
A group of 15 young people, staff and volunteers travelled over to the event on Sunday 22 May, getting covered in a variety of foam, bubbles and froth, whilst they negotiated the five kilometre course.
Jocelyn Dennis, 28, is YMCA Humber’s Community Youth Worker and also the Immingham youth club group leader. She led the team on the day and spoke about how much everyone enjoyed the event.
“The group were all very excited before we even left Immingham,” she said.
“We got to East Park early and enjoyed a picnic together, which really brought us together as a team and then we got ready to take part in the Bubble Rush.
“There were four bubble stations altogether, pink, blue, yellow and green and we were all thoroughly soaked by the end of the run!
“But the weather was beautiful with the sun shining throughout, so we all really enjoyed it.”
The idea to take part in the event was put forward by volunteers at the youth club, which meets on Monday evenings at the Resource Centre on Margaret Street in Immingham.
Jocelyn continued: “The group wanted to do something really fun together and had seen the Bubble Rush advertised online.
“Everyone who took part would like to do something similar again in the future and we all wanted to support another local charity.
“St. Andrew’s does so much fantastic work in the local area with young people and we wanted to show our support too.”
The team are hoping to raise £300 in sponsorship for St. Andrew’s Hospice through the event.
