YMCA HUMBER is inviting the public to learn more about its heritage and the wide array of services it provides in the community at a showcase evening, which is being held at Cleethorpes Pier on Friday 7 October.
We have been serving the local community in North East Lincolnshire for over 130 years and the charity is using the event to showcase its range of services across the region.
Malcolm Smith, YMCA Humber CEO said: “Many people don’t know our story or the work we do, they assume that we only run hostels for the homeless, but we are so much more than that.”
There will also be information on the services that YMCA provides locally, including supported accommodation, fundraising, volunteering and youth work.
Those attending YMCA’s Showcase event will get the chance to meet staff, volunteers and trustees, as well as some of the young people that the charity serves.
There will also be opportunities to find out about how YMCA plans to better serve young people in the future and how local businesses and individuals can get involved with the charity to make those hopes a reality.
The Soul in the Machine
The main portion of the evening will be a play from Saltmine Theatre Company entitled The Soul in the Machine – the story of George Williams YMCA founder.
Tickets for the event cost £10 and are available from Cleethorpes Tourist Information Centre, either in person at Cleethorpes Library by telephoning 01472 323 111 or emailing email@example.com.
The Showcase Event starts at 7.15pm, with the main presentation from Saltmine Theatre Company taking to the stage at 7.30pm.
