New Youth Club set to go in DN35

February 15, 2017

AS part of our relationship with Youth Partnership North East Lincs, members of our Youth and Community team recently held an informal workshop for people interested in volunteering for youth work in the DN35 area at the Pavilion on Sussex Recreation Ground in Cleethorpes.

The workshop followed on from consultations that took place in the DN35 area both before and after Christmas, where young people were asked about the youth provision they would like to see in their local community.

As part of the consultation period, an appeal was circulated for local people interested in volunteering in youth work to put themselves forward for opportunities in the area.

People interested in volunteering attended the workshop, which consisted of presentations and group discussions.

YMCA Humber’s Senior Community Organiser Penny Thompson said: “We have listened to the young people of the area and we are keen to try and implement some of what they want and need in the area.

Community Development Manager Linda Clark added: “We offer full support and advice for the volunteers, including risk assessments, putting policies in place, funding and setting up committees.

“We are hoping to start a new youth club at the Pavilion and the sessions will be for 8-to-12 year-olds and 13-to-19 year-olds.

“The packages we have for our volunteers will be tailor-made for each worker and are full of help and ideas”

Youth Partnership North East Lincs, works with young people in the local community to provide activities, clubs and events for 8-to-19 year olds.

If you are interested in volunteering on the project, please contact Penny Thompson on 01472 359 621, 07736 156 133 for an informal chat or email penny.thompson@ymca-humber.com.
