‘Cracking’ time for youngsters over Easter

April 26, 2017

YOUNG people across North East Lincolnshire had a ‘cracking’ time over the Easter Break with Youth Partnership – North East Lincs.

The group, which includes YMCA Humber, held a range of activities for young people including arts and crafts, music workshops and a sports extravaganza where the young people got the opportunity to take part in sumo wrestling!

One of the parents who attended an arts and craft session with three young people said: “Thank you we had so much fun at kids club.

“We have never been before so didn’t know what to expect but we could not have asked for more.

“All the staff were lovely and the kids had a great time.”

Speaking of the activities over Easter, Nicola Batts, one of our youth workers added:

“It was great to see so many new faces join in with the activities, it has been busier than ever.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and all activities have been really well attended.”

Other parents expressed how it was nice to see activities for young people being held in the local area at affordable prices.

Ross Hall, also a youth worker for YMCA Humber said:

“The arts and crafts sessions have been great, we have the ability to be flexible within the session and I have taught a young person how to play the piano and we finished of the session with a game dodge-ball.”

The Music Workshop held at Oasis Academy, Nunsthorpe was also a great success.

Young people were given the opportunity to learn and play musical instruments and were able to leave with their very own CD full of music they had created themselves.

“I can’t wait to get home and tell all my friends that I have made my own song,” said one of the young people who attended the workshop.

“I love music and I have really enjoyed the workshop and have loved watching everyone showcase their talent.”

Ross continued: “It has been great to see how proud all the young people are of the music they have created.

“Their confidence grew throughout the session and it has been highly rewarding to watch.”

Youth Partnership – North East Lincs regularly hold activities during the school holidays across North East Lincolnshire.
