Come Smash A World Record

March 12, 2014

CAN you smash a World Record? That is the question YMCA Humber are asking you this April.

The youth charity is hosting a community funday at King George V Stadium, in conjunction with Enfuse and Lincs Inspire, on Saturday 12th April between 11am and 3pm.

Held as part of the YMCA’s Community Games project, one of the main aims of the day will be to see if someone can come along and break a world record.

Attempts will be made to set new records in Longest Spacehopper Throw, Fastest Spacehopper 100-metre Dash and Most Spacehop Bounces in a Minute.

All three records are currently held by American, Ashrita Furman, 56, who actually holds the World Record for most World Records set!

The event will be a precursor to the charity’s Humber Hop – the mammoth spacehop fundraiser, which this year is taking place across the Humber Bridge on Sunday 27th July.

Aside from the World Record attempts, there will be a full-range of activities for all the family, including movement classes, live music and other sporting activities.

Admission to the event is free and there will be raffles and other fundraising activities also taking place.

There are opportunities for stallholders to stand on the day and they can find out more information by calling Jonathan Byrne on (01472) 693388.

For more information on the event itself, please call Sophie Johnson at Enfuse on (01472) 315437 or e-mail her at sophiej@vanel.org.uk.
