Hi I’m Andy, I’m 30 years old, and I’m married to Claire; I enjoy music of the heavy variety and enjoy trying all sports.
When I turned thirty I was told by many that it’s “all downhill from here”, so I decided that this challenge might be good for me!? Why am I doing this? Well, I like a physical challenge, I enjoy rolling around in mud, and I’ve always wanted to complete the London Marathon. So these three reasons joined together made this the perfect challenge for me. The fact that I can raise money for a wonderful association such as the YMCA is a ‘Brucey Bonus’!
For me this is a genuine challenge; I have been training for over 12 months now and have noticed a significant improvement in my general fitness. I hope my body can ‘hold out’ for a year. However, more importantly it’s a great opportunity to raise finance and awareness for the YMCA and its critical work with vulnerable young people.
The more I learn about the YMCA, its heritage, and its current work across the nation, the more I love what the YMCA stands for. Young people face a tough time in the current climate, therefore I believe its work is all the more important.
Finally, I would strongly encourage you to consider giving some of your time, talent or finance to the YMCA.
One such way you can do this is by sponsoring me on this challenge … why not? Thank you
