Residents take to the gym

April 3, 2019

Our residents once again make some healthy competition in a variety of sports activities with our engagement team.

At YMCA Humber, we believe every person should enjoy the benefits of good health and wellbeing.

As part of our new engagement programme, residents are encouraged to take part in a range of activities that support their health and wellbeing.

This week they have been putting their football skill to the test, and if there’s one thing we all love here, it’s a good game of footy in our indoor gym. Residents and staff engaged in a set of sports activities that put their strength, balance and agility to the test.

The first of the activities was a game of keepy uppies. The winner of which managed to keep it up for an amazing 22 kicks.

The activity that followed was target training, where players aimed to hit the crossbar on the football posts with the ball; which is a lot harder than it sounds and kept all of the players on their toes.

The last test of skills was a change of pace with players picking up the paddles to play a few rounds of table tennis.

Keeping physically active can have immediate and long-term health benefits, reducing stress, fatigue and helps individuals to develop a healthy lifestyle.
