The community got together to share a banquet of British foods, from a slice of humble pie to the classic Victoria sponge cake, there was no shortage of happiness and fun for all at this inclusive event.
Each meal has a set theme, and this month the community shared table celebrated our nation’s niceties with their chosen theme “The Best of British”. YMCA Humber residents and staff served pie, stew, mash, sausages and chips with a whole host of different desserts.
Many who joined in the event donated tinned food and desserts for everyone to share along with their stories and conversations about what makes Great Britain great to them. Police Community Support Officer Lindsay Glaves attended to lend an extra hand in the kitchen, stirring the stews and serving the sausages.
Family, friends and everyone in-between had a fun time together sharing their national pride; in other words, ‘everyone was well chuffed’.
The next shared table will Sunday 5th May and the theme is Mexican.
