Representatives from Humberston Lions visited YMCA Humber’s Community House to present resident, Harvey, with a cheque for £500 towards the house’s Learning Garden Project.
The project will see the garden of our Community House transformed with the addition of planting beds and areas in which, vegetables, herbs and fruit will be grown to be used as part of the house’s community cooking sessions. The project will also feature a small greenhouse where seeds can be grown before planting and an overall landscaping of the garden.
The plan for the garden has been led and designed by Harvey. He and his fellow residents cannot wait to get started. In this, they will be receiving gardening advice and tips from his Grandfather who is 82 and has an allotment of his own.
Kate Conway, YMCA Humber’s HR manager, said:
“This project joins our already exciting horticultural projects at Peaks Lane & The Foyer, and we have all been very impressed by Harvey’s determination to work with the Community House Coordinator Peter Holroyd to drive the project forward.”
