YMCA Humber is delighted to welcome Samantha England FCIH to the new role of Housing and Facilities Manager for the charity.
Samantha has had a varied career in different aspects of the housing market. The impact she has made on the housing sector with her varied experience and Post Grad in Housing, has resulted in her being recognised as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Her career started in the finance department with Cleethorpes Council but took a step towards housing when she moved to Environment Health dealing with housing enforcement and renovation grants. Samantha also had a short spell as a mortgage advisor.
Ms England’s remarkable career then refocussed by moving onto a Housing Association managing repairs and maintenance. Her role prior to joining YMCA Humber was Home Options Manager for North East Lincolnshire Council [NELC]. Here she excelled in managing homelessness, Home Choice Lincs and housing related support.
When asked why YMCA, her answer was ‘why not’? Samantha stated, “I have been a partner of YMCA Humber for a number of years through NELC. The new Freeman Street project makes this an exciting time to join this established charity. It offers me a new challenge by acquiring knowledge from the perspective of a housing provider. It is a big change for me to work for a charity but I do understand how demanding working with homelessness and vulnerable people can be and I am looking forward to the challenge of helping to get the best outcomes for the residents”.
YMCA Humber has been supporting residents of North East Lincolnshire since 1882 delivering vital services for young people. Offering four accommodation projects, which include coaching and training initiatives for the residents. In addition, YMCA Humber provides and supports youth clubs and a mental health project to establish communities where young people can contribute and thrive.
“We are delighted to have Samantha join our team with her significant expertise, explained Debbie Cook Chief Executive YMCA Humber. “She has worked with the most respected companies in the housing sector. Samantha will be an asset for YMCA Humber as we prepare to develop our presence in Freeman Street, Grimsby where the whole community will benefit from our facilities”.
