Nominate an Amazing Young Person for Top Award

May 28, 2015

YMCA’S YOUTH Matters Awards is returning on Thursday 22nd October in London and YMCA Humber is asking for nominations of its young people, staff and volunteers for an award.

The youth charity is hoping that public nominations can help them repeat the success of 2013 when the Community Housing Project in Grimsby was named YMCA of the Year.

Jade Asije, MarComms Project Manager for YMCA England, spoke about the changes made to this year’s event.

She said: “We were delighted with the turnout last year but to make it even better we’ve decided to make a few changes.

“Previously held in December, the awards have been moved forward to avoid the festive rush and will now take place on Thursday 22 October.

“Also, shifting back to a cabaret style, the awards will be held at the grand Porchester Hall in Bayswater, central London, where guests will be treated to an inspiring showcase from talented YMCA young people.”

There have also been some changes to the awards themselves with the focus being even more on young people and also putting forward the opportunity to recognise partners who have made a significant contribution to a YMCA during the year.

Jade continued: “The awards have also been revamped.

“The Global Link Award has been replaced with the Young Leader Award, which will allow young people who lead and inspire peers to be honoured, and the Inspiration of the Year Award is now the Outstanding Contribution Award – aimed at raising the profile of YMCA externally by honouring a campaigner, major donor or celebrity that has worked tirelessly to support the lives of young people.”
