Training & Engagement Lead

Hours: Up to 37.5 hours

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Up to £24,500

YMCA Humber is a youth charity that specialises in the supported accommodation for over 100 young people in communities around North-East Lincolnshire. We also provide education and training, mental health support and youth activities to support young people across the Humber. An exciting opportunity has arisen as Training & Engagement Lead to work across our Accommodation projects in the Humber region.

Following a strategic review of our resident training provision we are excited to introduce a new role of Training and Engagement Lead into our Accommodation Team. The key elements of this role will include –

  • Establishing both internal and external engagement opportunities to support the development of our residents.
  • Development of partnership working with local training providers, agencies, community groups etc to ensure the most appropriate training and engagement opportunities are available to our residents.
  • Establishing simple measures to identify ‘distance travelled’ for residents.
  • Development of a plan for resident engagement to feed into the Association overall strategic plans.
  • Line management to the engagement coaches to ensure all activities are coordinated, communicated and promoted effectively.
  • Management of the kitchen and it’s staff at the Peaks Lane hostel and development of our training provision within this area.

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Extensive experience in working with external agencies and organisations to facilitate appropriate training and engagement opportunities for our residents.
  • Experience in one of the following areas voluntary sector, social housing or homelessness.
  • Evidence of supporting vulnerable people in life-coaching and person-centred principles, using skills such as active listening and positive questioning to enable residents to meet their aspirations in areas such as being healthy, managing finances and preparing for independent living.
  • Level 5 qualification in either Education, Leadership, Management or Health and Social Care.
  • Level 3 qualification in Adult Education and Training (C&G 730, PTTLS or equivalent)
  • Exceptional organisation, communication and team management skills.
  • A full UK driving license would be desirable.

Relief Support Worker

Working hours: We have a variety of shifts available at both of our largest accommodation sites including days, evening and night shifts. We promote flexible working arrangements providing the requirements of the Association are being met. Please enquire for specific shift times.

We are looking for flexible individuals with good communication skills to join our list of relief support worker staff to work mornings, evenings and through the night. You will engage with our residents to provide informal support, offering practical advice on issues like health, personal leadership & employability. We are looking for candidates who can work flexibly, with a positive approach to work and the ability to motivate residents to make positive changes in their lives. In return we provide a diverse work environment and opportunities to progress.

Volunteer Support Workers

Volunteer Responsibilities:
– Welcome and induct new residents.
– Organise and deliver activity and learning sessions.
– Deliver independent living sessions such as cooking, cleaning and hygiene. Record progress and outcomes.

Volunteer Youth Workers

YMCA Humber is welcoming those interested in volunteer youth work to make contact and find out more. Whether you are interested in sports, music or to chat and be there for someone, we would like to meet you.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
– Work on their own or as part of a team maintaining 103 accommodation units in our Accommodation hostels.
– To be able where possible to deliver transferable skills as part of an activity session.
