Debbies Blog #9 – Better outcomes for young people – a worthy cause to support…

I have always felt a sense of pride at our Nation’s ability to give to good causes. Whether it be Children in Need night or the Comic Relief evening, I usually go to bed feeling overwhelmed by the amount raised and the difference it will make. The challenging times presented by COVID-19 have raised the same emotions of national pride – over £28m raised by Captain Tom, millions of pounds raised during the Big Night In, and all at a time when people worry about the future and feel anxious about job security when this is all over. We are a nation with a big heart of that there is no doubt.

Picture the scene…..A warm house. A lovely living and dining space. Family photographs in the ornate brick fireplace. A beautiful grey 5-seater corner sofa. Breakfast pots in the sink. Fairy lights still glowing in the garden. It’s a very cosy set-up.

Debbie’s Blog #2 – Nobody wants to be homeless

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve realised that for the whole of my life I’ve taken something for granted.  I don’t know why it’s taken me until now, but it has.  I’ve come to realise that not everyone in this world experiences unconditional love.

Debbie’s Blog #1 – First Impressions

Hello!  I’m writing this after my first 4 days as the new CEO at YMCA Humber.  I was really keen to come back to the charity sector where my heart truly lies, and my first four days have not disappointed.  It’s been an action-packed start, a pace I’ll look to continue, and I’ve loved hearing about the work that we’re doing.  The team at YMCA Humber have given me a warm welcome and I’m hugely grateful for that.
