Volunteer with us

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding roles you can undertake, and by providing the YMCA with your support you can help us change lives within our local community. Whether you wish to donate your free time, or learn new skills while gaining work experience yourself, there is a volunteer role for everyone.

Volunteering Pathways

At YMCA Humber we have the following pathways to offer applicants from the local community. Each role supports the provision of service at the YMCA Humber:

Youth and Community

As a volunteer in our youth team, you will work alongside members of our wellbeing team, supporting a variety of sessions for both youngster’s parent and their families. The role will involve volunteering at both our main site on Freeman Street and the MUGA Facility.

Hospitality at the Bradbury Café

As a volunteer in the café, you will work alongside the catering team providing meals, snacks, and refreshments. We have roles in the kitchen area, and front of house service based at Freeman Street.

Caretaker

As volunteer within our premises team, you will help with minor repairs and maintenance of facilities across the area, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and cleaning work at our accommodation sites.

Reception and Administration

As a volunteer you will support our front of house reception area providing advice and support to all visitors to the building, or you can support ‘back of house’ with basic admin tasks in our main offices.

Ready to apply?

To ensure the YMCA provides an inclusive volunteer application programme we have designed a simple set of guidelines for prospective applicants and ask that before applying you are able to say yes to the following criteria.

  • Are you over 18?
  • Do you have one reference?
  • Are you willing to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check?

If the answer is yes then we would love to hear from you, and applying to volunteer for YMCA Humber could not be simpler.

How to apply:

  • Complete our application form.
  • Attend a ‘taster session’ for your role.
  • Complete the volunteers checks.
  • Get started!

Once you have joined the team, we will ensure you are fully supported and provide each of our volunteers with a full role description, and initial induction programme which gives you all the resources you need to work with us here at YMCA Humber.
