YMCA Humber Champions Community and Creativity During Mental Health Awareness Week

In support of Mental Health Awareness Week (12th to 18th May) and this year’s theme of “Community”, YMCA Humber is inviting local residents to take part in two free, creative wellbeing events designed to bring people together through art, craft, and conversation.

On Thursday 15th May from 2.30pm to 4pm, The Bradbury Café within the YMCA building at 21 Freeman Street will host a Community Art Therapy session. Facilitated by Anna, a skilled practitioner in creative mental health support, attendees can enjoy a calming space to express themselves artistically and connect with others.

The following morning, on Friday 16th May from 10am to 11.30am, members of YMCA Humber’s wellbeing team will host a Community Craft & Coffee Morning at Clee Fields, blending relaxed crafting with the simple joy of good company and warm drinks.

“These free sessions are all about fostering connection and giving people a space to breathe,” explained Kerry Davis, Health and Wellbeing Manager at YMCA Humber.

“They are open, inclusive ways to support wellbeing and positive mental health. If you are over the age of 16, come along! There is no need to book, and no experience is needed, just turn up on the day.”

YMCA Humber will be delivering a further eight free community art therapy sessions in the coming weeks and months, thanks to funding secured through the Ongo Community Grant Fund.
