YMCA Humber Team Completes Yorkshire Marathon and Raises Over £2,700 So Far for East Marsh Youth Hub

A team of runners from YMCA Humber, including Chief Executive Kate Conway, Trustee Amy Rogers, and staff members, successfully completed the Yorkshire Marathon Festival on Sunday 19th October. So far, they have raised more than £2,700 to support the charity’s Kent Street Youth Hub in Grimsby’s East Marsh and are encouraging the local community and businesses to keep donating!
Taking on the full marathon and the team relay, the group ran under the banner ‘Running for Kent Street’, aiming to raise vital funds to improve facilities and create more welcoming, functional spaces for young people in one of Grimsby’s most deprived areas.
The event saw impressive efforts from all involved, with finish times including:
- Harvey Mawer, Sports Service Lead - 4:29:54
- Chafing the Dream (Male Relay Team comprising of YMCA staff) – 4:51:13
- Kate Conway, Chief Executive – 5:02:12
- Amy Rogers, Trustee – 5:27:05
- Agone Of de Feet (Female Relay Team comprising of YMCA staff) – 6:02:42
Chief Executive, Kate Conway, who completed the full 26.2 miles, said: “It was an incredible experience and such a proud moment for our whole team. The support we’ve had from colleagues, friends and the wider community has been amazing. The funds we’ve raised will go towards making Kent Street an even better space for the young people who need it most.”
Trustee and fellow marathon runner Amy Rogers added: “Running a marathon is really tough, but what kept us going was knowing the difference this money will make. The young people at Kent Street show resilience every day, and this was our way of doing something special for them.”
The Running for Kent Street campaign has so far raised £2,789, with donations still coming in. The funds will help upgrade shared spaces, improve facilities, and ensure the Youth Hub continues to be a safe, inspiring place for local young people.
