At YMCA, our wellbeing service looks at supporting clients in the best way possible. Whether it means helping practically, emotionally or both, our wellbeing team ensures everyone receives the right support.

A resident who accessed our services voiced their experience.

“I started counselling in February 2024 when I was really struggling with my anger and wanted to get help with both this and how I come across to other people.”

Whilst living at YMCA, this resident had 29 counselling sessions, they said, “it was good knowing that someone was there 24/7, and even outside of my sessions I knew I could ask them for support.”

The client said, “the counselling helped me a lot; knowing that there was someone there to help me and talk through my frustrations. It really helped me to step back and look at things differently and to realise that I now have the skill set to walk away from things in life that aren’t beneficial to me.”

They now have the ability to be able to take those next steps to achieve their future, because of their improved self-confidence and knowledge of where they were going in life, and how they were going to get there.

Kerry Davis, Wellbeing Manager at YMCA Humber said, “seeing a clients full journey from the start is really one of the greatest parts of my job. It’s a privilege to be a part of their personal journey and see them become more confident and a happier version of themselves.”
