Priscilla's Story

Priscilla is a social worker in North East Lincolnshire and has been involved with YMCA Humber for four years, she is currently working with a family whose child attends our Wraparound Care services.

Priscilla has emphasised the benefits of the Wraparound Care services, stating that YMCA Humber are able to provide stability for families as “parents get to be supported because of childcare afterschool.”

Alongside the benefits to parents of having this provision in place, Priscilla has seen firsthand the benefits these services have on children. The wraparound service, whether this being the after-school service or the holiday club, “provides a very safe environment for the children, it takes them away from the streets and the wrong crowds because here they get to be looked after, doing activities that are preventing them from unsocialised behaviour in the community.”

The child Pricilla is currently working with used to be involved in antisocial behaviour and YMCA have created a safe environment for this child where she can be with children her own age and make new friends. She has seen the difference the services at YMCA Humber have made to this child’s life, stating at YMCA we “also cover the emotional wellbeing of a child, identifying their needs.”

Priscilla has highlighted how the wraparound team have guided the child she is working with in the right direction.

Millie, Out of School Club Manager at YMCA Humber said, “working with the NELC social workers has enabled us to ensure the holistic view of the child and allows a fully extinguished and consistent support system for the children and their families.”
