Tammy's Story

Tammy and her daughter, Lottie, have been using YMCA’s holiday club since summer 2025, after finding out about these services from a friend.

Holiday club has benefited both Tammy and Lottie in different ways. For Tammy, she knows that her daughter is in a safe place, and she is able to go to work and not worry about childcare because the “hours are really good.” For Lottie, she has benefited because “everyone is so kind and they make me learn things I have not learnt yet.”

Tammy shares with us that Lottie has “come on leaps and bounds” since attending YMCA holiday club. All of the activities at holiday club are designed to enhance a child’s development, through social interaction and skill-building. Each day the children do something different, whether this is in a classroom setting or on a trip out.

Tammy and Lottie both feel comfortable at YMCA, the staff are friendly and they have built a “really food relationship with them.” They specifically praise Millie, Out of School Manager, on how she engages with the children, Millie enjoys and gets involved in the activities with the children which has made a big impact on the relationship between Millie and the children.

The reason Tammy chooses YMCA’s holiday club is because “it’s everything you need in the sense of the timings, the meals, the contactability, the friendliness, and the easy booking.” This service has not just been created to provide childcare, but it has been designed to help children thrive, and for parents to feel comfortable, knowing they are leaving their children at a safe place.
