YMCA Humber are thrilled to be working in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council after successfully winning a tender to manage Clee Fields under a five-year contract.

Youth, sports, and wellbeing are a big part of the YMCA federation, and YMCA Humber already have a heavy presence across these provisions. Clee Fields will complement the work YMCA already do at Kent Street MUGA which they purchased in August 2023, offering both free and affordable opportunities to the local community and partner organisations.

Louise Harling, Head of Youth and Community Services at YMCA Humber said, “I am looking forward to being part of the team involved in developing the sports offer at Clee Fields. The new facility allows us to develop an offer beyond just football, and we will be looking at having activities throughout the week to encourage people to participate in physical activity.”

Under the initial five-year contract, YMCA Humber plan to promote, develop, and manage a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse community sports offer, including physical activities for those with a disability or long-term health conditions. There will also be social inclusion activities, focusing on women and girls football and opportunities for LGBTQ+ activities.

The focus will be working with partner and community clubs to promote football, walking football, rugby, and wider physical activity for people from all backgrounds, with a priority being to develop and grow women’s football. YMCA Humber are keen to work in partnership with organisations, local football teams and clubs, and schools who are keen to hire the 3G pitches and use Clee Fields as their primary training ground. This facility also comes with a physio room which would be available to rent to local self-employed sports massage and physiotherapists, encouraging local enterprise and providing a further wellbeing benefit on site.

Wellbeing is a foremost priority for YMCA Humber who have an inhouse wellbeing team of qualified counsellors which can be accessed by our service users. They are keen to increase the offer to support mental health and wellbeing in football and other physical activities through established partnership links with mental health providers in North East Lincolnshire.

Kate Conway, Chief Executive Officer for YMCA Humber said, “Clee Fields is a fantastic facility which will provide us with the opportunity to grow youth, sports, and wellbeing provision within the community. We are keen to work with current and new partner organisations, providing a first-class football facility to encourage community participation.”
