FUNDRAISERS at YMCA Humber’s Humber Hop event will be transported to the start of their one-mile charity space hop in style thanks to a generous donation from Stagecoach East Midlands.
The transport firm, who provide services in Northern Lincolnshire and East Riding, have offered the use of a bus and a driver for the event on Sunday 27th July, which will allow participants to be ferried from the Barton-upon-Humber registration point to the start of the relay at the Humber Bridge’s North Car Park in comfort.
Adam Barley, commercial assistant for Stagecoach East Midlands, attended a special promotional photo shoot for the Humber Hop at the registration point of Waters’ Edge in Barton, alongside representatives from YMCA Humber, VANEL, Enfuse and the Waters’ Edge Visitors’ Centre.
He said: “We provide services that cross the Humber Bridge every day of the week but the Humber Hop is certainly a unique and fun alternative to make the crossing.
“And it is raising money for a fantastic cause and Stagecoach are delighted to be able to help out by ferrying participants from the registration desk to the start point.”
Jenny Hodson, Community Games Co-ordinator for YMCA Humber, bounced around Waters’ Edge at the shoot and she is looking forward to the Humber Hop, which is now in its second year.
She added: “Last year we had 80 people hopping across the Humber Bridge and we hope to top that number this year and raise money for YMCA Humber in the process.
“We would like to extend our thanks to Stagecoach and Waters’ Edge for their fantastic support of the event and we would encourage anyone who is thinking of signing up to do so now, as places are filling up quickly.”
Waters’ Edge will also be hosting their annual Wildlife Day on 27th July, featuring live animal displays and a craft fair, so there will be plenty to do for all the family.
All funds raised through the Humber Hop go towards YMCA Humber, enabling the charity to continue its work with young people in the Humber Region.
