YMCA Humber Celebrates Exceptional Ofsted Grade for Wraparound Leadership
YMCA Humber is delighted with the outcome of its wraparound childcare inspection, with Ofsted grading leadership and governance as exceptional and three further areas as strong standard.
The inspection, carried out on 24 July 2026 at the beginning of our summer holidays programme, also confirmed that safeguarding standards were met.
The result is a proud moment for the team at 21 Freeman Street, Grimsby, and recognition of the work that goes into delivering wraparound care for local children and families both after school and in the school holidays.
For YMCA Humber, providing childcare means creating a welcoming place where children can enjoy activities, build friendships and feel part of their community. The service also supports parents and carers who need childcare around their working day.
The exceptional grade for leadership and governance is particularly encouraging, recognising the people responsible for guiding and developing the provision. Alongside the three strong standard grades, it gives the team plenty to celebrate and a foundation to build on.
YMCA Humber is very pleased with the outcome and would like to thank its Wraparound staff for their dedication, as well as the children and families who make the service what it is.
Millie Wood, Wraparound Care Manager at YMCA Humber said, “I am very pleased with the inspection’s findings and the gradings that we have received. I cannot explain to you how proud I am of my whole team, of myself, and where we have come.
I think on the day when you get the phone call from Ofsted people panic, it was not like that for us, I knew we did not need to change anything. To have someone come and notice that, and know what we were doing from the start, with or without an Ofsted inspection, is the best standards we could possibly have because our morals and the way we work is purely for the best interest of the child, and that’s all our team is bothered about.
The main priority in all of this is the children, so to know that everybody around us is recognising how happy the children are is why I am here, it is what I do it for.”
The team will use the report to support the continued development of the provision, keeping children and families at the heart of its work.
The result reflects YMCA Humber’s commitment to creating opportunities for people to belong, contribute and thrive, starting with the everyday experiences of children in its care.
