Walking Netball returns to YMCA Humber.

At YMCA Humber, community is at the heart of everything we do, and we want everyone to feel that they belong. To ensure our community services support people of all ages, in 2025 we launched walking netball for women over the age of 18.

As of the end of April (2026), these sessions will be returning to Kent Street every Thursday at 10am.

Walking netball is suitable for those who are keen to get into fitness and to try something new in a safe and supportive environment, which reduces social isolation and brings the community together.

Sarah Howden, Wellbeing Officer at YMCA Humber said, "our walking netball session is more than a sport session. Its a session for women, 18 years and above to come and enjoy a gentler form of netball, this is for individuals who find it difficult to take part in the standard game. We try and create a safe and supportive environment regardless of your fitness level, age or health issue. A really important element to our session is we enjoy a hot drink and a biscuit after we have played the game. This is really important as it breaks down social isolation and creates a female led supportive environment. We want everyone to come and join in with the sport however they can (we can accommodate everyone's needs), have fun whilst they are with us, and socialise with other ladies. Everyone is welcome at YMCA Humber's walking netball session."

One of the ladies who attends our weekly netball sessions said, "walking netball is really enjoyable, it is a nice group of individuals and you get to meet different people."

The session will cost £2.50 per person, and refreshments are included in this price. If you are interested in giving walking netball a try, come along to our next session on Thursday at 10am.
