Welcome to the team, Andy!

We have recently welcomed Andy Mundell to the team, who has joined us as Head of Service.

Having worked in the education sector for the last 26 years, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge, and we are thrilled to have him join us at YMCA Humber. 

Andy said, "I have always enjoyed supporting and influencing others, especially those less fortunate. For the previous 26 years, I have worked in the education sector, predominantly in mainstream secondary schools but I have also had experience of working with primary school age, post-16 learners, as well as a short time working for the local authority. I have experienced school leadership for approximately 16 years across different school settings. My passion has always been to guide and support people, particularly young people, to have aspiration, big dreams and be the best version of themselves.

From my first visit to YMCA Humber, I felt the positive and welcoming environment from everyone... I knew at that point that I wanted to work here! The YMCA charity name is historically established and known for positively effecting people's lives, particularly young people. I did my research and looked into YMCA Humber's service reputation, which is excellent, what the diverse needs of our area are as well as the value and experience I felt I could add to the team. Supporting those who are vulnerable at particular times in their lives is what I enjoy and what is at the heart of YMCA Humber's values. 

I have joined the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as a Head of Service, which I hope my previous lived and work experiences will enable me to add additional value to our current and future services. I am looking forward to getting to know all stakeholders, networking, sustaining and building positives partners. I will also be the named Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

I love meeting and getting to know new people, both in and out of work.  As I do, I am looking forward to building positive working relationships and immersing myself in everything that YMCA Humber does. When I immerse with all staff and services, I am looking forward to upskilling, gaining further knowledge and understanding around our services across the 5 YMCA pillars."
